Diagnosis

I thought it was interesting when I read our sheet by the developmental pediatrician it gave me Ella's actual diagnosis:

Cerebral Palsy, unspecific; Abnormality of the nervous system; feeding difficulties; Hypotonia; Lack of coordination, Dyspraxia, Dysgraphia; Speech Disturbance.

Poor kid. So glad she is full of joy.

Those are just words. You'll learn to ignore labels and see only Ella...she's absolutely stunning in her beauty, both in and out. She's blessed with exceptional parents who'll have the wisdom to not let her be limited by a list of diagnoses that Ella, fortunately, knows nothing about. She'll be who she's meant to be by her Creator. And, I expect that she'll have a profound influence on Will.

Ugh, I HATE reading the laundry list every time we see a new doc. BUT, I try to concentrate on the positives ("try" being the operative word!), and the mere fact that we HAVE diagnoses is a blessing. Everything on that list is static, not progressive, which means that it's uphill from here, sista! (I know this because Ella's list looks remarkably like Ellie's.) Like you, my first thought after reading any doctor's reports is, "Poor babe. Why Ellie/Ella?" But, then I look over to my amazingly happy little girl and realize that she's gonna build the Kingdom just by being HER. If Ella and Ellie can smile and laugh amidst this adversity, then surely we can join them! My daily prayer is that those smiles continue as they get older....for both Mamas and daughters!

Love you!

I just love Fern's words above. Beautiful!

I just saw the EEG Slideshow before I clicked on this post. I sat in amazement at her beauty and unadulterated joy through was must have been a challenging event. Tape and glue in all that curly hair? Oy.

I thought, "Shouldn't we all be that beautiful and joyful?"

Just remember, there are other words that describe your sweet girl:

Child of God, Speaker of His Word, Joyful in His Plan, Lover of Her Heavenly Father, Lover of her family, Living her life as He's planned, an example to us all.

These are the words that matter.
