Day 2: Getting on Hawaii Time

The whole reason we went to Hawaii for Christmas was to get to spend the holiday with Joe's parents and his brother, Josh, and family. Josh is married to Wendy and they have two boys, Abraham and Ezekeil (Zeke). Josh and his family are missionaries. They have been based in Kona for the past 2 years with Youth With A Mission (YWAM). They will be leaving for China in the Spring so we thought we'd visit them in Hawaii while they are still in America.

We went on a walk down to town:

We went to Bubba Gump's for lunch. My rule is that we don't eat anywhere on vacation that we can eat while at home...and we don't have one of these in Dallas.

Day 1: Getting to Hawaii

I've been asked how the travel went...well, these pictures should give you part of the story. Will had no desire to sit down from the time we took off till the time we landed in Honolulu. The funny story started then.

As soon as we landed both kids decided to poop...so we had to change them and get off the plane. This is after Ella had decided to pee through her clothes twice already. So, we get off the plane with all of our "stuff"...travel though a HUMID airport to try and find Hawaiian Airlines. Joe was dragging a cart with our bag of travel foods and Ella's carseat, while pushing Will in his stroller. I had Ella and the rest of the carry on luggage. We found out that we had a 4 hour layover in Honolulu, waiting for a flight to Kona, and we knew that it was going to be a LONG wait since our kids would have already been in bed in Dallas. We found out that a new airline, Mokulele, was leaving right then and we could buy a ticket for cheap and be in Kona within the hour...SOLD. Granted, minutes before the flight takes off we have two kids with poopy diapers again...air pressure must do something to kids. I think you had to be there for it to be really funny.

So, we get on a new flight, get to Kona and get settled...fun week ahead.
